CAF outlines Women’s Champions League draw procedure

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the draw procedure for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament, which will be hosted by Egypt.

Eight clubs will compete in the tournament, with the draw dividing them into two groups of four teams each. The top two sides in each group will advance to the semi-finals, followed by the third-place match and the final.

Hosts FC Masar of Egypt have been assigned to position A1, while defending champions AS FAR of Morocco will occupy position B1.

CAF has divided the remaining qualifiers into two pots based on their performances in the last three editions of the competition.

South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Mali’s USFAS Bamako will be placed in Pot 1, while Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Cameroon’s Lékié Football Girls, Morocco’s FUS Rabat and the WAFU B representative will be in Pot 2.

The draw will begin with Pot 1, with the first team drawn assigned to Group A and the second to Group B. Their specific positions will be determined by separate draws from the respective group pots.

CAF has also introduced a special arrangement to prevent FUS Rabat from being drawn in the same group as fellow Moroccan side AS FAR. FUS Rabat’s ball will be drawn first from Pot 2, with its position automatically assigned to Group A.

The WAFU B slot remains undecided, with Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies set to battle Nigeria’s Edo Queens for the qualification place.
