The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to protest against the Mahama-led government over alleged corruption and what it describes as unfulfilled promises to Ghanaians.
The protest, dubbed the “Yegyeyɛ Sika Demo”, is aimed at demanding accountability, job opportunities and economic relief for citizens.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the party’s National Youth Organiser, Abanga Yakubu Fuseini, said the group would demand, among other things, that Sports Minister Kofi Adams and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa refund monies that the youth wing claims have not been properly accounted for.
The group has also raised concerns about the cocoa producer price of GH¢2,600 per bag, compared with GH¢3,100, describing the amount paid to farmers as unfair.
It is further accusing the government of failing to implement the proposed 24-hour economy policy.
The date and venue for the planned protest have not yet been announced.
