The body of an unidentified young man, assumed to be in his 20s, was found in a drain at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Friday, January 30, 2026.
The Unit Committee Member for the Aboabo Extension electoral area, Sumaila Dauda, in an interview, indicated that the victim might have been killed before being dumped in the drain.
He described the discovery as alarming and pointed out that such occurrences have happened repeatedly in the area.
“Someone informed me about the situation, so I rushed to the scene. Looking at the body, it appears the person was beaten to death. The police have since taken the body to the morgue,” Mr. Dauda stated, calling on authorities to take action to prevent such incidents in the future, in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Citi News.
Police officials confirmed that they have transported the body to the mortuary and have initiated investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
