Motorway accident: Scores leave dying man to binge on truckload of beer

Scores of passengers and traders on Thursday ignored the dangers of idling on the shoulders of the Accra-Tema Motorway by rushing to grab and binge on beer in a truck that was involved in an accident along the expressway. 

The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 10, as a long truck loaded with several crates of an alcoholic beverage on a Club Beer branded truck crashed.

Some eyewitness narrated that the truck which was heading to towards Accra failed to break and rammed into a vehicle ahead. About 15 cars were also damaged in the process as the crates of beer fell off the truck.

The truck was said to have attempted to overtake another car on the wet, slippery road after a heavy downpour a few hours earlier.

Four persons in four different cars were injured, with one reportedly losing his life.

The incident resulted in several hours of traffic on the stretch.

Videos captured by some onlookers show people carting away several crates of beer from the scene.

Others, including women, consumed several bottles at the spot.

One person was seen emptying the alcoholic drink from several bottles into a bucket to send away.
