NDC’s manifesto is the will of the people – Prof Opoku Agyemang
The opposition National Democratic Congress’ Vice Presidential Candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, says the yet to launched manifesto of the party will reflect the will of the people.
“We must make sure the exact cry of the people is incorporated into policy documents to ensure the people benefit directly.
“The ‘Big Push’ agenda in the manifesto, for instance, when implemented will ensure job creation for many people, adding that the youth will be given hands on training.”
According to the Vice Presidential candidate, the NDC leadership will continue with the all the developmental projects that were started by the Mahama-led administration.
Professor Opoku Agyemang said this during a campaign tour at Kwasiadukrom in the Bodi constituency of the Western North Region.
The former Education Minister also called on the general public, especially women to rally behind the ‘John and Jane ticket’.
“This is our time as women and we must take advantage of the opportunity,” she stressed.
Prior to Prof Opoku Agyemang’s tour, the party had set up a committee to ask 30 million Ghanaians what their needs and aspirations were ahead of the general elections.
The party had bragged about how its manifesto was going to be superior to that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
They called it the ‘People’s Manifesto’. But Ghanaians are yet to have a glimpse of the much awaited manifesto, as the party has already rescheduled its 2020 manifesto launch twice.
The event was earlier scheduled for August 31 and September 7, this year.
Ahead of the scheduled date for the launching of its manifesto, some policies believed to be in the 2020 document have already found their way online.
This includes pledges by the party to employ all national service personnel who wish to be employed permanently after service.
Also, teachers will reportedly get clothes, accommodation, and transportation allowance of 10% each, which will also mean a 30% increase in salary.
Again, the NDC is promising Ghanaians that the next government will ensure free education from KG to SHS, no admission fee at nursing, teaching and technical college/Universities
The party will implement its Agenda one million jobs for the youth and the BIG Push; $10 billion Infrastructure Program – both aimed at curbing unemployment within the country.
Meanwhile, its arch-rival, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched its manifesto on August 22, 2020, with a promise to provide leadership of service that will transform the country forever.
The event took place at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The launch which was on the theme “leadership of service, protecting our progress, transforming Ghana for all” brought together the rank and file of the party.
Present at the event was the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Mrs Samira Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Opare and Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu among others.
Other political parties, who have taken a cue from the NPP is the Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
Leader of the party, Kofi Akpaloo, at the manifesto launch promised to set up a US$10 billion job fund to support entrepreneurs and start-ups to help them develop their businesses.
LPG is promising a better tomorrow for the general public if given the nod.
