Police hunt gunmen who killed two people at Abossey Okai

Police are searching for gunmen who shot and killed two persons while injuring another at Abossey Okai in the Greater Accra Region.

Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge confirmed to theghanareport.com that the fatal shooting occurred on Saturday, August 29, at about 4;40 pm during the Homowo Festival celebrated by the Ga people.

The Kaneshie Divisional Police had said that they were not informed about the celebration, which is normally accompanied by firing of muskets by the youth.

Information gathered indicates that in the process of the rituals there were gunshots which resulted in injuries.

Three persons sustained wounds and were sent to the Sukura Community Hospital but were later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

However, two died, and the surviving victim was treated and discharged.
