Gender Ministry promises action over Akuapem Poloo nude photo

The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social protection has promised to take action over the nude photo of actress, Akuapem Poloo, and her son.

Madam Cynthia Mamle Morrison in a statement on Wednesday criticized the actress over her viral photo.

“The ministry highly condemns this act which is classified as indecent exposure of the child, an act of pornography, degrading, and also against the Children’s Act 1998 (Act 560), and the criminal and other offences Act, (Act 30),” the statement read.

On Tuesday, the actress posted a picture of herself and her son on his seventh birthday. Akuapem Poloo was captured naked kneeling before her son who was only seen in a panty.

While many criticized the actress over the photo, others jumped to her defence.

She has, however, rendered an apology saying it was an “artistic impression”.

Despite her apology, the Gender Minister says her outfit “is liaising with the appropriate agencies to deal with the issue”.

The statement signed by the minister added, “the ministry wishes to reiterate that the posting of nude pictures on social media at all times is a serious offence and all must desist from the act”.

It also appealed to those sharing the nude photos of the actress and her son to stop since it also contributes to an offence.

Meanwhile, the police CID has invited the actress for questioning.
