Upper Dixcove rulers combine Bible verses, gods to curse Ahanta West MP

Some New Patriotic Party constituency executives in Upper Dixcove in the Western region have been banned from campaigning in the area.

They alleged that the MP for Ahanta West, Ebenezer Kojo-Kum and his executives insulted the paramount chief for reportedly urging NPP delegates not to vote for him.

And so they have invoked curses on the constituency executives of the coastal community.

They want the gods to deal ruthlessly with NPP executives for tarnishing the image of the overlord of the area, Obrempong Hima Dekyi XIV, theghanareport.com can confirm.

Suspend members who invoked curses – NPP directs

An alleged Whatsapp group chat among some constituency executives loyal to the lawmaker is at the centre of the local political storm.

In the conversation that was later leaked to the Paramount chief, the MP was said to have made some disparaging remarks about traditional ruler.

According to the chiefs, the NPP members had said the chiefs of the area lacked courtesy.

The accused executives and the MP were also alleged to have plotted a conspiracy, in an audio recording, to disgrace the paramount chief.

Angered by the disrespect for the stool, the paramount chief assembled his council, who decided to appeal to the supernatural in the mortal affair.

Clad in red to demonstrate their outrage, the Chief of Mpatase, and a kingmaker at the Upper Dixcove Traditional area, Nana Kwesi Yankey led the rituals, urging the gods to deal with any NPP member who campaigns in the area.

“Some people have dented the image of our stool. If politicians came to meet chiefs and even those people who have spoken against the stool, should go to any of our 48 communities to campaign, may the gods deal with them. May they become sacrificial offerings for the gods.

“We are calling on you the gods to come to the aid of Nananom. Some young men of the New Patriotic Party who are part of the incumbent MP campaign team have uttered insults on us. We are on this libation banning them from campaigning in any part of our lands,” Nana Yankey said while petitioning the gods with a lamb and drinks.

“If the NPP members say our chiefs lack courtesy and don’t know how to talk, how do they expect the chiefs to communicate with their subjects to vote for them,” an angry Queenmother of the area said.

Anchoring her curses on verses in the Bible, particularly Ephesians 6:1 and Ephesians 30, she said “even the Bible says a disrespectful child would have his or her light dimmed in darkness. They won’t achieve in politics. They would die in it, but won’t achieve in it.

“They would die before their time. If you insult the elderly, you have reduced your time on earth.”

She blamed the alleged irresponsible views about the chiefs on the increasing levels of political polarization in the traditional area.

The chiefs have given the NPP in the area a two-week ultimatum to apologize or face the rage of the gods.
