The Ghana Police Service has arrested six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for allegedly assaulting a final year student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast.

According to a statement issued by the Central Regional Command on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the incident occurred on Friday, February 20, at about 3:30 p.m. after an inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Police say the victim, Rexford Owusu Ansah, was attacked at Pedu Junction while returning to campus with two friends. The suspects allegedly stopped them to confirm whether they were students of Adisadel College before launching the assault.

While his friends managed to escape, Rexford was reportedly overpowered and beaten. The attackers are said to have taken his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash and his shoes.

He first received treatment at the stadium clinic and was later referred to Cape Coast Regional Hospital.

A medical report confirmed that he suffered a fractured nerve around his right eye, leaving him unable to open it.

School authorities handed the six juvenile suspects over to the Kotokuraba Police Station later that evening.

Meanwhile, the victim’s friends have informed investigators that they can identify those involved.
