GFA to receive $700,000 annually as CAF increases funding

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to receive $700,000 annually from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), following a significant increase in financial support to the continent’s football associations.

The revised allocation represents an increase of $500,000 from the previous annual amount of $200,000, providing Ghana with additional resources to strengthen football development across the country.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe disclosed the funding increase during the organisation’s strategy conference in Cape Verde, held from October 7 to 9, 2026.

The increased support is expected to help member associations invest in grassroots football, youth development, domestic competitions, infrastructure and the administration of the game.

Across Africa, the new allocation will see CAF distribute a combined $37.8 million annually among its 54 member associations, up from the previous $10.8 million. This represents an additional $27 million in annual funding.
