Machester Utd, Real Madrid chase Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu
Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu, is attracting interest from big names in European football as Manchester United joins Spanish football giants, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in a race for his signature.
The Real Valladoid defender is in the best form of his career, producing spectacular performances in the Liga.
A year ago, the 21-year old extended his contract with deal with Real Valladoid, which ends in 2022, but has a release clause in his contract of just £10million..
Reports have it that Valladoid are keen for him to sign a new contract, which would include a higher release clause.
The Ghanaian left-sided centre back has featured 27 times in Spain’s top flight this season, scoring once against Eibar in October.
Southampton were also monitoring his situation in the January transfer window but are now unlikely reignite interest with bigger clubs in the hunt for the defender.
Salisu joined Real Valladolid’s youth setup in October 2017, Ghana’s African Talent Football Academy. He made his senior debut with the reserves on January 28, 2018, starting in a 2–4 Segunda División B home loss against Coruxo FC.
On March 1, 2018, Salisu extended his contract until 2021. He scored his first senior goal on April 29, netting the equalizer in a 2–2 away draw against Racing de Ferrol.
Salisu was set to make his international debut for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers last November but pulled out due to injury.
