Some parents in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region are worried that missing Mathematics objective answer sheets could affect the 2026 BECE results of 165 candidates.
The parents fear that the delay in processing the results could also affect their children’s chances of securing placement in Senior High School (SHS), especially as the placement process has already begun.
The affected candidates are from six schools in the Binduri District: Benguri Junior High School (JHS), Christian Academy, Yaligun JHS, Amazing Grace JHS, Good Friends International JHS and Gumyoko JHS.
One of the affected parents, Aruk Gabriel, said they initially believed the delay was a routine issue that would be resolved before the SHS placement process started.
However, after following up with the relevant authorities in Bolgatanga, the parents were reportedly informed that the Mathematics objective answer sheets could not be found.
Mr Gabriel said the situation has left parents anxious about their children’s future, as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is still trying to locate the missing answer sheets before the papers can be marked and the results released.
“Now, are they saying that our children should wait? Should they not go to school until they find the papers, mark them and release the results so that we know whether they will get placement? By then, it will be too late,” he said.
According to Mr Gabriel, all 165 candidates from the six schools are affected by the issue.
The parents are therefore appealing to the Ministry of Education and WAEC to urgently intervene and help resolve the matter before the SHS placement process is completed.
