Fulham head coach Álvaro Arbeloa is facing early pressure after losing his first three Premier League matches of the 2026/27 season.
The former Real Madrid and Liverpool defender took charge of Fulham in July on a three-year contract, replacing Marco Silva. However, his start to life at Craven Cottage has been far from ideal.
Fulham have suffered defeats against Sunderland, Chelsea and Crystal Palace, leaving them without a point after the opening three league games.
Their latest setback came at home against Crystal Palace, where they lost 3-2 despite taking the lead twice.
The result also exposed defensive problems, with Fulham conceding seven goals in their opening three league matches. The team has shown attacking promise but has struggled to prevent opponents from creating and converting chances.
There are also reports of concerns within the squad over Arbeloa’s high-intensity approach. His preferred style involves aggressive pressing and an energetic approach, ideas he developed during his coaching career with Real Madrid’s youth teams and Castilla.
Despite the difficult start, Arbeloa has insisted that he remains confident in his methods. He has called for patience and believes his players have the character and ability to improve their results.
The pressure could increase with two difficult fixtures coming up. Fulham are scheduled to travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on September 12 before taking on Manchester United.
The Liverpool fixture will be particularly significant for Arbeloa, who spent two years at the club as a player.
