The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has warned the public against using 20 mobile loan applications that are operating without the required licence or authorisation to provide digital credit services in Ghana.
The warning was contained in a public notice dated September 8, 2026, issued by the Bank under its Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/29.
It forms part of the central bank’s ongoing efforts to sanitise Ghana’s digital credit space and protect consumers from unlicensed operators.
According to the Bank of Ghana, the identified loan applications are operating in violation of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana, issued in September 2025.
The applications named in the notice are Cascredit, Cash Future, Cash Cedi, Cashpal, Cashpal Pro, CreditGo, Funds Credit, Glow Credit, Moni Wave, MoniLend, Nova Cedi, Onua Loan, Quick Cedi, Sika Boost, Sika Credit, Sompa Loan, Sune Credit, Swift Lend, Target Credit and Zoom Advance.
The central bank said the operations of such entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection requirements and established regulatory standards.
It further cautioned banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions and payment service providers against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed digital loan providers.
The Bank of Ghana urged members of the public to avoid engaging with unlicensed loan providers and encouraged anyone who becomes aware of their activities to report them to the Bank’s Fintech and Innovation Department.
