Hearts of Oak made an impressive start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after recording a convincing 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
The Phobians produced one of the strongest performances of the opening weekend, taking control of the game early and maintaining their dominance until the final whistle.
Veteran striker John Antwi was at the centre of the performance, scoring twice in the first half to put Hearts in a commanding position.
Antwi opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, giving the Accra-based side an early advantage and putting Berekum Chelsea under immediate pressure.
The experienced forward completed his brace in the 37th minute as Hearts continued to dictate the game. Chelsea struggled to find a response and went into the break two goals down.
The Phobians continued their attacking approach after the interval and eventually added a third goal through debutant Kader Mahmoud late in the game.
Ali Mohammed then completed the emphatic victory by converting a penalty in stoppage time to make it 4-0.
The result not only gave Hearts all three points but also sent an early warning to their rivals about their ambitions for the new campaign.
It was also a perfect competitive start for Bosnian coach Nebojsa Kapor, who is beginning his tenure with the Phobians.
Hearts’ four-goal victory puts them at the top of the league table after the opening round of matches and gives the club confidence ahead of their next fixture.
