The Gomoa Ajumako and Gomoa Assin Traditional Areas have given the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and National Security one week to close the New Winneba North Police Station.
The chiefs accused the police of masterminding the shooting that left three people dead and 23 others injured during a clash in the area.
The injured victims are receiving treatment at the Trauma and Specialists Hospital in Winneba.
They have also given the Central Regional Lands Commission and relevant agencies one week to establish clear boundaries between the Gomoa Central District and Effutu Municipality as part of efforts to resolve the long-standing land dispute.
Speaking at a press conference at Gomoa Ekroful, Gomoa Jukwahene, Nana Okatakyi Idan Opirim IX, condemned the clash involving residents of Gomoa Oguaakrom, Yenkuadze and Pomadze and settlers of New Winneba.
He said the two paramount chiefs of Gomoa Ajumako and Gomoa Assin had opposed the construction of the New Winneba North Police Station because they believed the land belonged to the Gomoa Central District Assembly.
Nana Opirim called on the IGP, National Security, and the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to conduct a full investigation into the shooting and establish what led to the deaths and injuries.
He also alleged that farmers in Gomoa Yenkuadze had suffered repeated attacks by hired land guards and accused an officer from the New Winneba North District Police Office of shooting an elderly man from Gomoa Oguaakrom.
According to him, residents rushed to the police station after learning about the incident, leading to further tensions.
Nana Opirim warned that failure by the security authorities to address their concerns could deepen tensions between the two communities.
He also called for an investigation into claims that New Winneba settlers in the Gomoa Central Constituency cast their votes in the Effutu Constituency.
