Prioritise unity for 2028 election victory – Bawumia urges NPP Ashanti regional executives

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the newly elected Ashanti Regional executives of the party to prioritise unity and work together towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia made the call when he met the new regional executives at his office in Accra. The meeting was held behind closed doors as part of his engagements with regional party leaders following the NPP’s recent regional elections.

The delegation was led by the newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA.

During the meeting, Dr. Bawumia stressed the need for the new leadership to bring together all members of the party, including those who contested the regional elections but were unsuccessful.

He said the party would need the contribution of every member if it was to mount a strong campaign and regain power in 2028.

According to him, the series of internal elections, from the polling station level through the electoral area and constituency levels to the regional elections, should be seen as part of a broader process to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election.

Dr. Bawumia said the ultimate objective should remain winning the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He assured the executives of his willingness to work with them and other party members to achieve the NPP’s electoral ambitions.
