Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Crystal Palace to sign French defender Maxence Lacroix in a major move aimed at strengthening their defensive options ahead of the new season.
According to reports, the Blues will pay around €60 million for the 26-year-old centre-back, who is expected to undergo his medical examination before completing the transfer.
Lacroix is set to sign a long-term contract with Chelsea that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032, highlighting the club’s confidence in his ability and potential contribution over the coming years.
The deal also includes financial benefits for Lacroix’s former club Wolfsburg, who are reportedly entitled to receive between 10 and 15 per cent of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause included in his previous move to Crystal Palace.
The French defender joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg and quickly became an important figure in the team’s backline.
His strength, pace and ability to play from the defence have attracted interest from several clubs, with Chelsea eventually moving to secure his signature.
