Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has expressed his determination to restore the club’s former glory, insisting that proper planning, professionalism, and a strong work ethic will be key to achieving success in the upcoming season.
The South African coach, speaking in an interview, said the team’s ambitions can only be achieved through careful preparation and commitment from everyone involved with the club.
According to Tinkler, the Porcupine Warriors have the potential to reach greater heights if the right structures and attitudes are put in place.
“This season, with proper planning, preparation, professionalism, and a strong work ethic, nothing can stop us from achieving our goals except ourselves,” he said.
The former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City coach explained that he was fully aware of the pressure attached to managing one of Ghana’s biggest football clubs before accepting the role.
Asante Kotoko, Ghana’s most successful club in terms of domestic titles and one of Africa’s most recognised football brands, has experienced challenges in recent years, including inconsistent performances and struggles to compete for major honours.
Tinkler said his main objective is not only to win trophies but also to build a stronger foundation that will help the club maintain success over a long period.
“The legacy I want to leave behind is to transform this club from a sleeping giant into a living giant,” he stated.
The coach added that he understands the expectations of Kotoko supporters, who demand success because of the club’s rich history and reputation.
“When I joined the club, I knew the pressure that would come with the job because we have to achieve success, we have to win, and we have to restore this club to where it belongs,” he said.
Tinkler’s appointment has generated optimism among some supporters who believe his experience and tactical approach can help the team compete strongly in Ghanaian football and on the continental stage.
