The Obuasi Len Clay Stadium has been selected as the venue for the 2026 X1 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup, with the tournament scheduled to take place from August 10 to 18, 2026.
The venue was chosen from a shortlist of proposed stadiums, with organisers citing its excellent facilities, rich football history and ability to provide a high-quality match-day experience for players, officials and supporters.
According to the organisers, the decision to stage the competition in Obuasi reflects their commitment to taking major football events to different parts of Ghana while promoting the growth of the domestic game across the country.
The X1 DOL Super Cup has become one of the most prestigious competitions in Ghana’s second-tier football calendar.
It features the best-performing clubs from the Division One League, offering them another opportunity to compete for silverware while showcasing the quality and competitiveness of the league.
This year’s tournament will feature eight clubs drawn from the three Division One League zones. Representing Zone One are Debibi United and Tamale City, while FC AshantiGold and Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs qualified from Zone Two. Zone Three will be represented by Port City FC and Semper Fi FC.
The remaining two places have gone to Attram De Visser SC and Nsuopon Fidelity FC, who secured qualification as the two best third-placed teams across all three league zones.
The participating clubs will be divided into two groups of four, with the top teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage to compete for the 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup title.
The choice of Obuasi is expected to generate significant excitement among football fans, particularly in the Ashanti Region, where home side FC AshantiGold will be aiming to impress before their supporters.
The tournament is also expected to provide a platform for emerging football talents to showcase their abilities to scouts, clubs and supporters.
The 2026 competition will be the first to be played under the tournament’s new title sponsorship following a recently announced five-year partnership between the organisers and X1 Energy Drink.
