MoMo vendor killed in armed robbery attack at Dominase Onion Market

A mobile money vendor has been shot dead, while another individual is battling for his life following an armed robbery at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

According to eyewitness reports, five heavily armed robbers invaded the bustling market and opened fire, discharging over 20 rounds of ammunition during the assault.

The attackers specifically targeted the mobile money vendor, fatally wounding him before escaping the scene. Another victim suffered gunshot injuries and is presently in critical condition.

Speaking in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Adom News, an eyewitness, Yussif Mohammed, stated that the deceased was shot multiple times in the stomach, neck, and back.

He elaborated that traders and residents initially thought the gunfire was coming from police officers, which hindered their ability to approach the scene or react promptly.

The incident has left traders and residents in disbelief, with many voicing concerns regarding the escalating insecurity in the region.

Meanwhile, Ebo Anderson, the Chairman of the Gomoa Potsin Neighbourhood Watch Committee, has urged the Inspector-General of Police to supply sufficient logistics and resources to the Gomoa Dominase District Police Command to bolster security and tackle crime in the area.

He stressed the necessity for a heightened police presence and support to avert similar occurrences and ensure the safety of residents and businesses.
