Caleb Yirenkyi attracts interest from Real Madrid

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly expressed interest in Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, the goal scorer for Ghana during their latest World Cup friendly against Wales, as they continue to monitor some of the brightest young talents in world football.

According to reports, Real Madrid has made contact through former Ghana international Michael Essien as they explore the possibility of signing the highly-rated FC Nordsjælland midfielder.

The Danish club is believed to value the player at around €30 million.

Yirenkyi, 20, has emerged as one of Ghana’s most promising footballers in recent years. A product of the renowned Right to Dream Academy, he joined FC Nordsjælland in 2024 and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Danish Superliga. His performances have also earned him a place in the Ghana national team at a young age.

The midfielder has attracted attention across Europe thanks to his composure on the ball, defensive awareness, and ability to dictate play from deep midfield positions.

Several scouts and analysts have compared his style to that of Michael Essien, one of Ghana’s greatest football exports. Essien currently serves as an assistant coach at FC Nordsjælland and has played an important role in the development of several young players at the club.

Interest in Yirenkyi is not limited to Real Madrid. Reports earlier this year linked him with a number of top clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Bournemouth, following a series of impressive displays in Denmark.

Danish journalist, Farzam Abolhosseini, has previously suggested that FC Nordsjælland could demand a fee close to €30 million for the Ghanaian, a figure that would place him among the most expensive sales in the club’s history.

While no formal offer has been confirmed, the reported interest from Real Madrid is another indication of Yirenkyi’s rapidly growing reputation in European football.

A move to the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners would represent a major milestone in the youngster’s career and could make him one of the latest Ghanaian players to feature on football’s biggest stage.

For now, FC Nordsjælland remain in a strong position, with Yirenkyi under contract and continuing to attract interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs as the transfer window approaches.
