The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana has raised the alarm over rising hostilities in the Middle East, urging citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid non-essential travel to the region.

In a statement released Saturday, the Ministry highlighted ongoing coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran, alongside reported retaliatory actions by Iran targeting U.S. and Israeli assets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. These tensions have already triggered airspace closures, flight disruptions, and heightened security alerts.

The government called on all parties to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic channels to safeguard lives, protect economic stability, and secure lasting regional peace.

Ghanaian nationals living or traveling in the affected countries are advised to stay indoors, follow local authority directives, avoid large gatherings, and remain vigilant at all times. Emergency preparedness plans have been activated, and assessments are ongoing regarding the evacuation of nationals where necessary. The Foreign Affairs Ministry has already begun evacuating some staff from the Ghanaian Embassy in Tehran while retaining essential personnel to assist citizens still in Iran.

The Ministry and Ghana’s diplomatic missions in the region are on high alert to provide consular support. Nationals requiring urgent assistance have been urged to contact designated embassy and mission hotlines in Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Iran.
