The Ghana Police Service in Atiwa West- Kwabeng, in the Eastern Region has arrested three persons for unlawful gold robbery and possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to the Police Command, one Kingsley Kofi Antwi was arrested in connection of a robbery at Akyem Asamama. An intelligence gathered indicates that he was the same person who robbed one Emmanuel Kingsford Agbo of his quantity of gold at a gun point at Asamama.
The suspect admitted the offence in his caution statement and mentioned one Francis as his accomplice who provided information on the victim for the operation.
Suspect Kingsley Kofi Antwi, further told the police that after the victim was robbed of the gold, same was kept in the accomplice’s room and on the same they sold the gold to a buyer at Anyinam at cost of GHC (70,000.00).
The police retrieved exhibits namely; “a black pump action gun from the bush where he hid same two live BB cartridges and three empty BB shells, black jeans trousers, Tecno Camon 20 mobile phone, a face mask made from black socks and cash of GHC3000.00.
Police say efforts are under way to put the suspect Kingsley Kofi Antwi, and his accomplices before court.
