Bring back Shatta Wale — Bullet urges TGMA organisers

The founder of RuffTown Records, Bullet, has urged the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to reinstate dancehall artist Shatta Wale to enhance the liveliness and entertainment value of the event.

Speaking in an interview, Bullet expressed that Shatta Wale’s participation consistently brings excitement and fosters healthy competition at events.

“I think they should bring back Shatta Wale. If only they are willing to and would listen to me, they should bring him back.”

He noted that while opinions may vary, he is convinced that the dancehall artist’s presence at the TGMA would boost public interest and fan engagement.

“They should bring him back to make it more fun because, after all, he is still a Ghanaian musician, so they should talk things out with him and bring him back,” he stated on OKAY FM.

Bullet further elaborated that Shatta Wale’s fanbase plays a crucial role in generating excitement at any event he attends.

“I do not care if anybody disagrees, but I am saying what I also think, and it is not because he is bigger than the others, but because if he is involved in something, his fanbase makes it fun. We all need competition, and I know when SM is involved in something, no doubt it makes it fun,” he added.

Shatta Wale has experienced a tumultuous relationship with the TGMA scheme throughout the years, particularly after the notorious event at the 2019 edition of the awards that involved fellow dancehall artist Stonebwoy.

The altercation took place after Stonebwoy was declared the winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

During the on-stage celebration, a clash erupted between members of both camps, resulting in disorder within the auditorium.

The situation intensified when Stonebwoy brandished a firearm on stage, instigating panic among attendees and momentarily pausing the event.

In the aftermath of the incident, both artists were apprehended and subsequently released on bail.

This incident continues to be one of the most contentious moments in the TGMA’s history.
