Lockdown: ‘Macho’ soldier praised for emotional appeal to trotro passengers
At a time of alleged physical abuses by some security personnel during the lockdown, a soldier has been praised after he made a passionate appeal to ‘trotro’ passengers to just stay home.
In a video that has gone viral, the soldier, Col. Michael Mfum, was captured pleading with passengers on-board a commercial bus to as much as possible adhere to the lockdown directives.
“It is better than losing your lives. Go through the hardships in your house. It is better than leaving this world. Your maker up there has a purpose for you so please stay home,” he said.
Despite the partial lockdown announced by President Akufo-Addo to contain the spread of the infectious coronavirus, some Ghanaians have been reported throwing off the restrictions.
There have been videos circulating on social media also suggesting some military brutalities during the enforcement of the lockdown.
But among these videos, one seems to have melted the hearts of many Ghanaians who have taken to social media to applaud the said officer.
Meanwhile, the military hierarchy has denied the brutality allegations leveled against its men who have been deployed to ensure the compliance of the lockdown.
