Raids on drug dens to be sustained nationwide – NACOC

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has provided reassurance to the public that its recent operations targeting drug dens nationwide will persist as part of its commitment to combat illicit drug activities.

This assurance comes in the wake of intelligence-driven operations carried out in the Eastern and Greater Accra regions, where NACOC successfully dismantled multiple drug dens during a festive-season initiative dubbed “Operation White Ember”.

The coordinated raids focused on identified drug hotspots, including Mamfe and Tutu in the Eastern Region, as well as Madina Redco Flats, Zongo Junction, and the railway slums surrounding Airport City in the Greater Accra Region. A total of 72 suspects were apprehended during these operations.

In an interview on Sunday, December 28, 2025,  Francis Opoku Amoah, the Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations at NACOC, stated that the Commission is resolute in its efforts to intensify the battle against illicit drugs.

“Let me assure the general public that it is not going to be a one-off thing [raids]. It is something that we will continue to do, whatever we say that we’re going to do with the help of God, with our professional training, guidance, support and leadership of our current management, I’m very sure that we will see to the end of everything that we say we’re going to do,” he remarked.

Mr. Amoah encouraged the public to assist the Commission by reporting any suspected drug dens within their neighborhoods.

“Say something once you see some of these activities in your locality, we will investigate and take action,” he urged.

He further noted that NACOC will maintain its collaboration with pertinent state agencies to combat illicit drugs, especially those trafficked through the coastal regions of the country.
