Mother pleads for help as Ahafoman student disappears
A mother in the Ahafo Region is living through every parent’s worst fear after her 18-year-old son, Emmanuel Bashiru, vanished without a trace.
Esther Abesoe, a 35-year-old trader from Anansekrom near Goaso, says her son went to sleep in a separate room on the night of October 30 and was nowhere to be found the next morning.
She says she knew something was terribly wrong the moment she opened the door and saw the empty bed.
Since then the family home has been filled with worry and unanswered questions. Emmanuel, a student of Ahafoman Senior High and Technical School, has now been missing for more than a month.
Esther has filed a report at the Goaso Police Station and has been moving from place to place with an extract of the police document, hoping that someone might recognise her son or remember seeing him.
This week she visited the school to speak with the headmaster and staff as well as students who studied with Emmanuel. The school community has joined her appeal and is urging the public to stay alert and share any useful information.
Esther describes her son as tall, dark in complexion and able to speak Twi, Sefwi and English. She says the silence surrounding his disappearance has become increasingly difficult to bear.
Holding back tears, she said, “All efforts to trace Emmanuel have proven difficult. My only hope now is in God, the police and the general public. Please help me find my son”.
Meanwhile, the police are encouraging anyone with credible leads to contact the nearest station.
