NDC executives call for dismissal of Nanton DCE

Some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nanton District of the Northern Region have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul Rahaman Rosina, citing her incompetence and actions that compromise the party’s integrity.

During a press conference held in Nanton on Monday, December 1, 2025, the constituency executives contended that the DCE’s ongoing tenure threatens the party’s electoral prospects.

Representing the executives, Mohammed Sharif asserted that the DCE had misappropriated resources intended for vulnerable farmers as part of a significant government agricultural support initiative.

“The government intervention, such as the Savannah Agriculture Value Chain Development Project, is meant to support farmers and reduce poverty. However, we have credible reports that about 600 bags of subsidised fertiliser allocated to the district were diverted and sold to private retailers under the direction of the DCE,” he alleged.

Sharif indicated that the purported diversion has eroded trust among farmers, a demographic he characterised as vital to the party’s support base.

“This act is a betrayal of the trust of our farmers. It is a departure from the NDC’s principles of accountability and an act of corruption that has angered the very people who stood with the party in difficult times,” he added.

Consequently, the executives have requested President Mahama to take immediate action and appoint a new DCE, whom they believe can restore confidence and further the party’s objectives in the district.
