Police arrest 10 over viral video assault on two women in Tarkwa
The Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has picked up 10 suspects after a video surfaced showing them physically assaulting two young women in Tarkwa.
Three of the suspects, Eric Donkor (also known as Killer Block), 32; Yaw Gyimah, 29; and Edmond Nartey, 24, were seen in the video cutting the scalps of the victims with a razor blade.
A fourth suspect, Tawiah (also known as Awaga), who was also seen cutting the scalp of one of the women, is currently on the run.
The remaining suspects, Steven Amu, 24; Farouk Balas, 18; Mensah Bernard, 18; Adu Baggeo, 23; Bismark Nyarko, 30; Akwesi Poku George, 18; and Oteng Alfred, 23, have also been arrested for their various roles in aiding and abetting the assault.
According to the police, efforts are underway to provide the victims with the necessary support.
In a separate operation, the IGP’s Special Operations Taskforce last week arrested 19 people in the Tamale metropolis for involvement in illicit drug peddling.
The task force launched a targeted campaign in the Northern Regional capital to crack down on drug dealers and dismantle criminal hideouts.
The suspects, all male, include five alleged drug peddlers, 13 gang members, and one individual found with a firearm and ammunition without authorisation.
During the operation, the police seized quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, sachets of substances suspected to be cocaine, a single-barrel gun, and 13 BB cartridges.
They also retrieved several motorbikes believed to be stolen, along with mobile phones and various electronic devices.
“All exhibits have been catalogued and safely secured,” the police noted, adding that all suspects are being held at the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters for screening, profiling, and further investigation.
