Kasoa building collapse: Trapped victim rescued safely
Rescue operations aimed at saving a construction worker trapped beneath a collapsed building at Kasoa New Market in the Central Region have been completed successfully, with the victim alive.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) took over two hours to extricate the victim, who was trapped under the debris.
A paramedic team on standby provided intermittent pain relief and other emergency care to ensure the worker remained stable while fire officers meticulously cleared the rubble.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered a serious leg injury. He was initially taken to the Kasoa Polyclinic and subsequently transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for further treatment.
Two of his colleagues were able to escape the incident unharmed.

“We are thankful to God and to the teams from the Fire Service and the Ambulance Service. They performed their duties with great professionalism. A medical team was ready at the Polyclinic to receive the victim immediately after his rescue,” he stated.
The accident occured when the front section of a residential building undergoing renovation collapsed. The owner, Ali Charles, had reportedly engaged three masons to reinforce the structure after observing cracks.
The Municipal NADMO office, along with the Works and Engineering Department of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, is anticipated to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the collapse.
Authorities have since secured the affected structure and evacuated all residents for safety.
