National Service allowances to be adjusted upward – Acting Director-General

The National Service Authority (NSA) has revealed plans to increase the monthly stipends provided to service personnel nationwide.

Currently, National Service personnel receive approximately GH¢715 each month as their allowance.

Speaking on the incident, Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Acting Director-General of the Authority, noted that discussions are progressing well to finalise a new allowance rate.

Ms. Seddoh refrained from disclosing the specific percentage of the suggested increase but assured that the change would be significant.

“It is something that the President has expressed his interest in. But we all know the situation we find ourselves in, and so we don’t want to press him too hard. Let’s be hopeful.

“I don’t want to go ahead of the Minister, but I can assure you that we have had very good talks and we are hopeful that there will be some increment,” she remarked while addressing the media in Accra.

In the meantime, the NSA has announced that online registration for the 2025/2026 service year will commence on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and conclude on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

According to the Authority, this decision comes after a directive from President John Dramani Mahama following a Technical and Forensic Audit of the previous Central Service Management Platform (CSMP), which was deemed inadequate.

The Authority was then instructed to create and implement a more efficient digital platform aimed at improving transparency, security, and real-time verification.

In an official statement, the NSA declared that all registrations completed in June 2025 are invalid and instructed all potential personnel to re-register.

They explained that this decision was prompted by concerns over data integrity, including age inconsistencies identified during the previous process.
