Police arrest two suspected soldiers for robbery

Police in Prestea, Western Region, have arrested two men believed to be military personnel together with two civilian accomplices during an attempted robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited, a Chinese-owned mine, on Sunday, September 28, at Prestea-Obouhu.

According to the company’s Public Relations Officer, Zion Rootman, the suspects arrived at the site in a pickup truck.

The two alleged soldiers were dressed in military uniforms, while the other two accomplices wore masks.

He explained that company officials quickly alerted the Prestea Police, who moved in swiftly and arrested the suspects before the robbery could be carried out.

The four have since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Command for further investigation.
