Police ‘arrest 12 suspected kidnappers’ in Ashanti Region
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of 12 suspected kidnappers in the Ashanti Region.
The kidnappers are believed to be involved in recent cases of robberies and kidnapping of nomadic herdsmen and their dependents around Ejura, Mampong and Akomadan areas in the region.
Ashanti Regional Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP), Godwin Ahianyo, made this known in a statement.
He said the suspects are also believed to be nomadic herdsmen.
The 12 suspects are “Bube Buru alias Jwauga, 29, Abdulai Mahamadu, 29, Karim Abdulai, 37, Sulemana Ali, 32, Yusif Musah, 40 and Halidu Ali, 25.”
The others are Ali Adama, 40, Abubakari Gariba Maanu, 40, Bella Amadu, 27, Alidu Amadu, 18, and Ali Abraham, 20.
According to the police, these suspects have already been identified by their victims.
The suspects have since been remanded by District Courts in the various communities.
The police has, therefore, urged the general public, who have been victims of robberies and kidnapping to report to the Regional Police Headquarters to assist in investigations.
