“I am very proud”- New Black Stars defender Derrick Kohn delighted after first training with Ghana
Black Stars newbie Derrick Kohn has shared his excitement after joining the team for the first time ahead of the World Cup qualifiers in September.
The West African heavyweights opened camp on Monday for the matches against Chad and Mali this week.
Twelve players trained on Monday, including the German-born Ghanaian, who is expected to make his debut against Chad on September 4, 2025, in N’djamena.
“Hello Ghana. Just finished training with the guys. My first training for Ghana, I am very proud and I am happy with these guys,” said Kohn after training.
“We are now going to the hotel, shower and fly to Chad,” he added.
Twenty-two players have since reported to camp and have left the country for Chad ahead of Thursday’s game at the Stade Olympique Idriss Deby.
A win in Chad will put Ghana in pole position for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Ghana currently sits top of Group I with 15 points, three points adrift of second-place Comoros, who play Mali on Thursday in Moroni.
