The National Democratic Congress (NDC) vetting committee has cleared twelve aspirants seeking to contest in the Tamale Central parliamentary primary scheduled for September 6, 2025, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

The vetting panel, chaired by NDC Deputy General Secretary Lawyer Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, wrapped up its review on Sunday, August 31, clearing all 12 candidates for the upcoming contest.

The aspirants include professors, lawyers, doctors, diplomats, and more, with three capable women making their mark in the race, an encouraging sign for representation.

The NDC has called on the candidates to run campaigns focused on issues and to maintain a civil tone, steering clear of personal attacks.

Professor Alidu Seidu, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, is committed to running a respectful campaign, especially given the sombre context of the by-election, which was triggered by the tragic passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament in a helicopter crash.
