Bawumia leads NPP presidential race with 52% — Poll reveals

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the leading candidate to steer the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections, as indicated by a recent poll from Global Info Analytics, dated August 21, 2025.

The survey reveals that Dr. Bawumia enjoys the support of 52% of NPP delegates in anticipation of the party’s presidential primaries.

His nearest rival, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, lags significantly behind with just 17%.

Other candidates in the running have garnered less support, with Dr. Bryan Acheampong at 3%, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum capturing 1%.

Additionally, former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong, Boakye Agyarko, and Addai Nimo each received less than 1% of support.

Interestingly, 10% of delegates remain undecided about their choice, while another 9% chose not to reveal their preferences.

The poll incorporated responses from 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing the survey. Conducted between August 12 and 20, 2025, the interviews spanned 263 of the 276 constituencies through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI).

The survey boasts a confidence level of 99% and a margin of error of ±2.44%.

While Dr. Bawumia appears to be in a strong position, engaging the undecided delegates will be crucial as the primaries approach.
