Jonathan Mensah captains Colombus Crew for 2020 season
Black Stars center back, Jonathan Mensah, has been named Columbus Crew SC captain for the 2020 season.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian has become the first African-born to captain the team as he replaces former captain Wil Trapp, who now heads to Inter Miami to ply his trade.
Mensah’s first match as captain recorded a 1-0 win against New York City FC at home on Sunday, 1 March 2020, a 56th-minute strike by fellow teammate Zelarayan. The win gave the team the maximum points.
Mensah’s compatriot also Harrison Afful recorded an assist.
