Ablekuma North: Suspected ‘uniformed impostors’ arrested
The police have arrested some well-built individuals dressed in brown uniforms and impersonating security personnel near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
During interrogations, the suspects could not specify which of the security agencies they belong to, leading to their arrest.
They were found positioned near the entrance of the polling centre, raising suspicions among the police assigned to maintain security during the ongoing parliamentary election rerun.
John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Dean of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Citi News, confirmed the arrests.
He indicated that police believe these individuals may not be true members of any recognised state security agency.
They are currently at the Odorkor Police Station as investigations continue.
Over 6,000 eligible voters are expected to cast their votes today at 19 polling stations within Ablekuma North.
