Kidnapped man allegedly killed after sister dismissed ransom call
A woman is mourning the tragic loss of her brother after a ransom call ended with words she now deeply regrets.
Francis Owusu, popularly known as Yaw Owusu, was allegedly murdered by kidnappers in the Kwaebibirem Municipal District of the Eastern Region.
According to his sister Maabena, the kidnappers demanded GH¢60,000 for his release, warning that failure to pay within two hours would result in his death.
Convinced it was a scam, she responded that her family could not afford the amount and told them they could go ahead and kill him.
She believed that no one would ask for such a large amount in a real kidnapping case and dismissed the threat.
The next day, she received devastating news that Francis’s lifeless body had been found.
The incident has left the entire family in shock and sorrow.
Francis, a driver based in Asuom, was known in the community, and his sudden death has raised concerns over rising cases of kidnapping and extortion.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
They are yet to confirm the identity of the alleged kidnappers or their motive, but efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible.
