AG yet to advise on Ahmed Suale murder case – Police Prosecutor

Progress in the high-profile murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale has stalled as the prosecution awaits direction from the Attorney-General’s office.

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Police Prosecutor informed the Madina District Court that no advice had yet been received from the Attorney-General after the case docket was submitted.

Chief Inspector Nana Afua Bamfoa disclosed during a hearing presided over by Judge Susan Nyarkotey.

The court has adjourned proceedings to August 2, 2025, and instructed the prosecution to ensure that the Attorney-General’s office provides its report.

A Bill of Indictment is also expected at the next session.

Daniel Owusu Koranteng, a fellow investigative journalist, is standing trial for abetment of crime and murder. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently out on bail set at 50,000 Ghana cedis.

According to the prosecution, Daniel allegedly led two unidentified suspects to the home of Ahmed Suale in Madina, where Suale was later shot and killed by unknown gunmen.

The case traces back to June 2018, when former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, showed Ahmed Suale’s images on television and called for him to be dealt with.

Prosecutors say that Daniel was the source of those images and that the two had a confrontation via WhatsApp before the murder.

“We are committed to pursuing justice, but we must follow proper legal processes to build a strong case,” said Chief Inspector Bamfoa after court.
