Our lands are not for sale — University of Ghana warns
The University of Ghana has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding fraudulent schemes involving the sale of its land, especially around the National Service Farms and the Papao area.
The University’s Public Affairs Directorate highlighted that there have been recent attempts by individuals—reportedly from OSU—to deceive the public into believing that parts of the University’s property have been transferred to them by the government, using these false claims to sell land illegally.
A statement signed by Dr. Elizier Taiba Ameyaw-Buronyah, from the University’s Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD), revealed that at least two individuals have already fallen victim to these fraudulent activities.
The victims were misled into seeking the University’s approval after purchasing the land, a consent that the University firmly states it does not and will not grant under any circumstances.
One of the cases is currently under investigation by National Security, with officials visiting the University multiple times as part of their inquiries.
The University has categorically declared that none of its land has been sold or transferred to any individual or group.
“No one has been authorized to sell land on behalf of the University. The University’s lands remain its property and ARE NOT FOR SALE,” the statement emphasized.
The University urges the public to report any suspicious activities or fraudulent offers related to its land to the University or the relevant authorities immediately.
This caution is in line with Strategic Priority 5 of the University’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, which focuses on sustainable resource mobilization and stewardship.
