Man shot and killed in bloody dispute at Sagnarigu

A 26-year-old man, identified as Yakubu Mohammed Habib, has been shot and killed in Fou, a community in the Sagnarigu Municipality.

He was killed after a dispute escalated between his brother, Mustapha Muktadel, and a neighbour, Baba Habib.

The incident occurred between February 25 and 26, 2025, in the Northern Region.

According to residents, the conflict began on the night of February 25 when Baba Habib and his associates allegedly assaulted Mustapha Muktadel around 9:00 p.m.

Later that night, Baba Habib reportedly called Yakubu Ibrahim, the victim’s other brother, requesting a meeting, but Ibrahim declined.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on February 26, Baba Habib allegedly returned with a group of about 20 people, leading to a confrontation.

During the altercation, an unidentified person ran to a Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle, retrieved a pump-action gun, and fired shots.

Yakubu Mohammed Habib was struck in the process.

Eyewitnesses said the injured man was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) but succumbed to his wounds around 4:30 a.m.

Police have since arrested two suspects, Baba Habib and Alhassan Fuseini, and launched an investigation into the matter.

The victim’s body has been taken to the TTH morgue for an autopsy.
