Photos: Akufo-Addo’s niece’s wedding draws January 2020’s biggest A-List guests
Some 17 days into the New Year, we have an A-lister wedding in none other than the President’s family.
The President’s niece Akusika Akuffo got married to Brian Bekoe last week Saturday.
It was held at the former seat of government, the Christianborg Castle in Osu and predictably it ticked all the boxes – elegance, decor, and scenery.
Present were Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and former president John Agyekum Kufour.
And talking about First Ladies, the ever-fashionable Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings was not to be left out.
Wondering how all these classes of people could meet up at a wedding? Let me tell you about the couple.
I bet the bride’s surname, Akuffo rings a bell. She’s a London School of Economics (LSE), trained lawyer. She is a barrister of both Lincoln’s Inn in the UK and the Ghana Bar. Her dad Steve Akuffo is a member of the Council of Elders of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Her mother Jaqueline Akuffo an entrepreneur.
Akusika’s maternal grandma is Oheneyere Georgina Yaa Adepa of Adepa pharmacy fame. She also doubles as a member of the Council of State in the President Akufo-Addo’s government.
The bride comes from a long line of lawyers, from her father’s side.
Current President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is her uncle. Wait for more names.
Immediate past Chief Justice of Ghana is her Aunt, Justice Sophia Akuffo. The current Attorney General is also an Aunt, Hon. Gloria Akuffo also renowned lawyer and fashionista Kwame Akuffo is her cousin.
It was a battle of fascinators, suits, and gowns.
