There will be consequences if Nsoatreman withdraws from Ghana League- Frederick Acheampong

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong, has stated that should Nsoatreman FC go ahead with plans of withdrawing from competing in the 2024-2025 Ghana  Premier League, there will be consequences.

He said this in an interview after GFA Executive Council members and football officials met the Inspector General of Police, George Dampare, following the violent clashes witnessed at Nsoatreman’s game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko that resulted in the death of Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong.

Nsoatreman announced that they have pulled out of competing in the Ghana League since the incident that has resulted in the arrest of six individuals and according to Frederick Acheampong, should Nsoatreman see their decision through, there will be consequences for the club.

“The regulations are there, if it happens that way, we will consult the regulations. If someone enters into a competition and midway through the competition withdraws, there are consequences.”

“They-Nsoatreman-showed commitment (that) they were going to play the league till the end so there are consequences and that will be dealt with by the Premier League regulations.”

A handful of meetings involving Ghanaian football clubs across several divisions have been held since the tragic incident at Nsoatre.
