Jones Borteye Applerh has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries by President John Dramani Mahama.
This was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, on January 21, 2025.
His appointment is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
This follows the revocation of the appointment of Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
Borteye Applerh’s appointment took effect on January 21, 2025.
GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited was established in 1958 as a State Distilleries Corporation for the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages.

In 1968, the company became a division of the then-Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC). In 1993, GIHOC Distilleries became a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Ghana.
