Mahama appoints Anthony Kwasi Sarpong as acting GRA Commissioner-General
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Senior Partner at KPMG, as the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The appointment aligns with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 13(1) of the Ghana Revenue Authority Act, 2009 (Act 791).
The announcement was made in an official letter issued by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Mr. Sarpong’s vast financial management and corporate governance expertise is expected to bolster the GRA’s operations during this transitional period.
The letter clarified that the appointment is subject to the Constitutionally required advice of the Governing Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
It further noted that the appointment takes effect from Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Mr Sarpong has been requested to confirm his acceptance or otherwise of the role within 14 days.
