Parliament has approved three of the nine ministerial nominees from the second batch presented by President John Mahama, following their vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The approval was based on a recommendation by the Committee after assessing the nominees’ qualifications and competencies.

The approved nominees include Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South; Governs Kwame Agbodza, MP for Adaklu; and Eric Opoku, MP for Asunafo South.

Haruna Iddrisu will serve as Minister of Education, Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister of Roads and Highways, and Eric Opoku as Minister of Food and Agriculture.

The motion for approval was moved by the first deputy speaker, Bernard Ahiafor, and debated in Parliament on Tuesday, January 21, under the chairmanship of the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako.

During hours of deliberation, both the Majority and Minority sides commended the nominees for their competence, leadership abilities, and proven track records in public service.

This approval marks a critical step in President Mahama’s efforts to form a robust and capable government to tackle key national challenges.

The nominees are expected to bring their expertise to bear in their respective ministries, driving policies that address pressing issues in education, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Parliament’s endorsement reflects its confidence in the nominees’ ability to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s goals and the nation’s development.
