6 Reasons To Buy A Manufactured Home
Many may be asking, “What is a manufactured home?” A manufactured home is a house that’s built in a factory and then later transported to the home site for installation.
Typically, a manufactured home offers more affordable options and allows you to have all new and up-to-date features and more space for a better price.
My husband and I recently purchased land and built a new manufactured home. Below I’ll share some key points, benefits, and perks of purchasing a manufactured home.
1. Affordability
Manufactured homes can be significantly cheaper to purchase than traditional homes. When we looked around at our options, we quickly realized we could get way more for our money by purchasing a manufactured home than a traditional home.
2. Fast Construction
We were in a time crunch because our lease was about to end, so when we learned we could have our home built and ready to move into within our time frame, that greatly benefited us. Many times, a manufactured home takes less time to build than a traditional, stick-built home. The homes take less time because they are built in a factory, which is less likely to experience delays.
3. Customization
The US has so many different manufactured home builders all around. Each of these builders offers many different things when it comes to their homes. You can look around for local sites, where you can go and tour models in person, and chat with a sales representative for information. Once you find a model you like, you often have the option to customize floor plans, kitchen appliances, backsplashes, counters, cabinets, porches, home colors, and siding preferences. This allows you to make the home you want at an affordable price. This also allows you to plan and stick to a budget.
4. Warranty
Many manufacturers offer a wonderful warranty plan when you purchase a home. This allows you to save money and stress from having to repair or replace things after making such a big purchase. Some of the things covered under our warranty include our appliances, windows, roof, air conditioner unit, doors, siding, and skirting. The warranties can vary depending on the brand as well. For example, our appliances have a 5-year warranty because of a partnership with the manufactured home builder we chose.
5. Safety
When we first looked at these homes, safety was a big concern. We live somewhere that endures many hurricanes and tropical storms, so we wanted to make sure we had a home built to withstand bad weather. We quickly learned that these homes have high safety standards and features. These homes have to meet the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) standards, which ensure you live in a safe and good quality home, as well as one that meets national and local protocols.
6. Combination Mortgage
We had no land before looking at manufactured homes. When we talked to the salesman, he shared that they offer home and land mortgages with many available lots of sizes from which we could choose. Because of this offer, we ended up finding our dream land. This also allows you to stick to your budget and saves stress from purchasing land separately.
Home is so much more than a place you just sleep.
It’s where you will make memories, and share laughs, and the space where you feel safest. For us, a manufactured home made the most sense. It’s allowed us to have everything we’ve dreamt of and a place we get to call ours. If you are looking into buying a home, take a look at manufactured home builders in your area. You just might find everything you’ve ever wanted.
