Abla Dzifa Gomashie appointed Minister for Tourism and Culture

Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, has been appointed as the Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts by President John Dramani Mahama.

This significant announcement was made on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Gomashie is no stranger to the arts and culture sector, having built a distinguished career as an actress, film producer, and scriptwriter.

Her work in the entertainment industry has earned her widespread recognition, while her political career has seen her actively championing causes related to culture and heritage.

She previously served as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) between 2013 and 2017, during the early years of the ministry’s establishment by President Mahama.

Currently, Gomashie represents the Ketu South Constituency in Parliament and holds a revered position as a Queen Mother in the Aflao Traditional Area.

Her leadership and passion for the preservation and promotion of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage have long been evident.

In terms of academic credentials, Gomashie holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in African Studies from the University of Ghana (2005-2008).

She also has a First-Class Honors Bachelor of Fine Arts (2000-2003) from the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts and a Diploma in Theatre Arts (1994-1998).

These qualifications highlight her deep commitment to the arts and cultural sector in Ghana.

Throughout her previous tenure as Deputy Minister, Gomashie played a vital role in the development of several important initiatives.
